Different Types of Sod.

Choosing the right type of sod.

I can only tell you about what we use. We stick with 3 basic kinds of sod....

We normally install Bermuda, Centipede and Zoysia.

Any of these three grass varieties do well in full sun; shade will be the limiting factor.

Bermuda really likes full-sun. This is the grass we install the most of in my area.

Centipede can tolerate a little shade in the morning hours but really needs full to mostly sunny for the rest of the day.

Zoysia is excellent in both full-sun and mostly shady environments. Zoysia is the most versatile when it comes to sun and shade. This grass looks almost like carpet when you keep it well maintained and weed free.
